Meet Cat - The Author...
Hi!
My name is Catherine Lord and I am the creator of Mr Millet's Farm, the first book in my children's book series. I am currently working on book 2 - 'The dream adventure', which will be out very soon!
I am 25 years old and work as a speech and language therapist.
I found my love for working with children and young people through various Saturday jobs as a face painter, children's party host and baby sitter.
Age 15, I discovered the world of disability, volunteering with a local charity in Warrington. I loved every minute working there and was inspired to study for my degree. I graduated from the University of Wolverhampton in 2013, having studied Ba (Hons) Special Needs and Inclusion Studies and Deaf Studies. I then graduated in 2015 from the University of Essex with an MSc in Speech and Language Therapy.
Why am I telling you this?
I wrote Mr Millet's farm originally as a leaving present for a fabulous young man that I had been working with, as I found there was a lack of children's books depicting characters with a difference, whether disability or any other reason.
Once a few people had read my book, I decided that I would try and get my book published, to help raise awareness of inclusion, spread the positive message of disability and also to help raise money for Brainwave.

This is that Fabulous young man - Raj.
Raj was the inspiration for the main character "Raj" in Mr Millet's Farm.
Raj is 13 years old and loves stories that rhyme (especially the gruffalo!) and dancing and singing to his favourite songs!
He especially like the Sugababes, Rizzle Kicks and Jessie J!
